If you haven’t already heard about Hari favourite, Hamilton The Musical, where have you been hiding?
Inspired by the book “Alexander Hamilton”, written by historian Ron Chernow, Hamilton The Musical tells the tale of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, a West Indies immigrant who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War.
Using a mix of hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap and R&B by the global sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda, the multiple award-winning musical follows the epic journey of Hamilton. Starting as a child born out of wedlock, you observe his marriage to a wealthy heiress and his flight to become America’s first Treasury Secretary, ultimately leaving a vast legacy in forging the country’s financial system.
This year alone the production has claimed seven Olivier Awards (having been nominated for a record-breaking thirteen), adding to the eleven Tony Awards it scooped from a record-breaking sixteen nominations on Broadway in 2016. Among others, it also received the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Due to its sensational success, demand for tickets is sky high and it’s not uncommon for the show to be sold out months in advance.
