10 Facts About The Hari To celebrate our 10th Anniversary

This year, The Hari celebrates a very special milestone: 10 years of unforgettable stays, memorable moments and heartfelt hospitality.

Since opening our doors in 2016, The Hari has become so much more than a hotel. From the stories behind our name and the people who inspired it, to the art on our walls, the design in every room and the personal touches that make each stay unique, there’s plenty that happens behind the scenes.

To celebrate a decade of The Hari, we’re sharing 10 facts that tell the story of who we are.

Some you may know. Others might surprise you.

So, settle in and discover 10 things you might not know about The Hari.

Fact I Our Name

This year, we’re celebrating 10 years since The Hari first opened its doors in 2016.

Our name is a homage to a man whose legacy is rooted in impeccable hospitality.

Dr. Aron Harilela, our CEO and Chairman, created The Hari brand to honour his late father, Dr. Hari Harilela, whose passion for people and dedication to hospitality continue to inspire everything we do.

Ten years on, this legacy lives on in every stay, every welcome and every memorable moment shared within our walls. From the very beginning, The Hari has been built on the belief that true hospitality is personal, thoughtful and lasting.

As we celebrate this milestone, we look back with gratitude and forward with excitement, continuing to honour the legacy that gave The Hari its name.

Fact II A Designer's Masterpiece

The Hari is a true designer’s masterpiece. World-renowned designer Tara Bernerd brought the hotel to life with her signature blend of contemporary elegance and timeless vintage influences.

From layered materials and rich textures to bespoke furniture and carefully curated artwork, every element has been thoughtfully chosen to create an intimate, residential atmosphere that feels distinctly like home.

Every detail tells part of The Hari’s story, bringing its unique character and personality to life. The result is a space that feels both beautifully considered and effortlessly welcoming, where design is not simply something to be admired, but something to be experienced.

Ten years on, this distinctive design remains at the heart of The Hari, continuing to shape the experience of every guest who walks through our doors.

Fact III il Pampero's Name

It might surprise you, but Pampero isn’t actually an Italian word… Our restaurant is named after our owner, Dr. Aron Harilela’s beloved racehorse, Pampero, giving the space a personal connection to The Hari’s story and heritage.

The food, however, is proudly Italian, inspired by Dr. Aron’s favourite cuisine. At its heart, Pampero celebrates the warmth, generosity and unmistakable flavours of Italy, embracing traditional ingredients and much-loved classics with a fresh, modern edge.

From comforting favourites to beautifully crafted dishes, every plate is designed to bring a little taste of Italy to Belgravia, all within the distinctive surroundings of The Hari.

A racehorse may have inspired the name, but there’s no mistaking what’s on the menu.

Fact IV The Views

One of our guests’ favourite suites is The Library Suite, and it’s easy to see why. With two beautiful step-out balconies, it offers panoramic views across London’s ever-changing skyline.

From one side, you can take in views of the famous London Eye, while across the river, Battersea Power Station stands proudly on the horizon.

Turn in the opposite direction and you’ll find another London icon: Harrods, right on our doorstep.

A suite with a view, a story at every turn and London’s landmarks laid out before you. Not a bad spot to call home, even if only for a night.

Fact V The Artwork

Art is truly in our DNA. Our hotel is a little like an art gallery that never closes. From the moment you step inside, creativity can be found around every corner, with artwork forming an integral part of The Hari experience.

Working with our art curators, A Space For Art, we rotate our exhibitions every six months, ensuring that no two visits are ever quite the same. Each new collection brings fresh perspectives, new talent and another layer to our ever-evolving story.

And as a true testament to our owner, Dr. Aron Harilela, and his commitment to championing the art world, we host the annual Hari Art Prize. First launched in 2020, the prize offers significant cash awards and a platform to help spotlight and support the next generation of artistic talent.

For us, art isn’t simply something that hangs on the walls. It’s part of who we are, woven into the very fabric of The Hari.

Fact VI The Garden Terrace

One of our guests’ favourite spots? The Garden Terrace.

Whatever the weather, you’re covered, literally. The terrace features a fully retractable glass roof, perfect for sunny summer days, while cosy heaters keep things warm when London’s winter weather arrives.

But perhaps the most magical time to visit is Christmas. Transformed with twinkling fairy lights and beautifully decorated Christmas trees, the terrace becomes a festive hideaway in the heart of Belgravia. Settle in with a steaming hot chocolate or a warming glass of mulled wine and enjoy the atmosphere beneath the stars.

Summer sunshine or Christmas sparkle, The Garden Terrace is designed to be enjoyed all year round.

Fact VII Personalised Service

Our team politely stalk our guests… in the best way possible.

At The Hari, we believe it’s the little details that make the biggest difference. From personalising amenities for special occasions to recommending the very best things to see and do in London, our team pays close attention to what makes every guest and every stay unique.

Whether it’s a first visit or a familiar return, we take the time to get to know our guests, their preferences and the little things that make them feel most at home.

Because true hospitality isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s personal, thoughtful and all about making The Hari feel like a home away from home, every single time.

Fact VIII Sustainability

At The Hari, we are committed to the continuous improvement of our environmental, social and economic performance.

From the experiences we create for our guests and the way we operate the hotel, to the wellbeing of our people and our role within the local community, sustainability is considered at every level.

This year, we successfully retained our EarthCheck Silver Certification, one of the world’s leading benchmarking and certification programmes for the travel and tourism industry, and certainly no small feat!

It reflects the continued work happening behind the scenes every day, as we look for new ways to reduce our impact, operate more responsibly and create a more sustainable future.

Fact IX FACT IXThe Living Room of Belgravia

The Hari Bar is a little like stepping into a beautifully lived-in drawing room, or perhaps your own private library. Book-filled and art-lined, every corner is layered with character and filled with subtle nods to Dr. Aron’s personal taste.

And when it comes to his favourite tipple? There’s only one answer: a Negroni.

So much so, The Hari even has its own gin and rum, created especially for us and used to craft his favourite cocktail whenever he comes to visit.

It’s these personal touches that make The Hari Bar more than just a place for a drink. It’s a space with personality, stories and a little bit of Dr. Aron woven into every detail.

Fact X A Global Vision

Some brands are built. The Hari is felt. Born from the Harilela family’s legacy of warm, generous hospitality, it reflects a global vision for modern luxury rooted in care.

In 2016, The Hari London brought that vision to life in Belgravia: elegant, personal, cultured, and full of character.

In 2020, The Hari Hong Kong extended that warmth to Wan Chai, strengthening the brand’s Asian presence with soul and style.

In 2027, The Hari Singapore will open on Orchard Road as a 326-room luxury hotel shaped by design, art, wellness, and heartfelt service.

More than expansion, this is heritage becoming a global experience, and a family legacy guests can carry wherever The Hari goes.
