What's On in London? January 2026


Avoid the January blues with a collection of some of the best events and festive celebrations our city has to offer throughout the first month of 2026.

From discovering new artists at the London Art Fair and TS Eliot Prize Readings, to dancing all night long at Burns Night, there is plenty to do in the capital this month.

DRY JANUARY AT THE HARI


If like many others, you are starting 2026 on a high note by attempting Dry January, The Hari Bar and Terrace has you covered.

LONDON ART FAIR


Discover one of the city’s most established art fairs between the 21st – 25th January, celebrating both modern and contemporary art.

The London Art Fair features 120 leading galleries across London, displaying everything from gigantic installations to exciting innovative concepts from the likes of Tracy Emin, a talented artist whose work is displayed in many of our guest rooms. CIRQUE DU SOLEIL


The bugs are back, and this time, they’re at the Royal Albert Hall. OVO by Cirque du Soleil returns on 9 January –  1 March 2026, and it’s an experience not to be missed.

From crickets leaping skyward to butterflies gliding through the air, ants juggling with perfect precision and spiders twisting in impossible ways, each act showcases the extraordinary artistry and inventiveness Cirque du Soleil is celebrated for. Step inside this whimsical world.

WES ANDERSON EXHIBITION


The Design Museum has been granted rare access to Wes Anderson’s personal archive, meticulously assembled over more than three decades, and will be open until 26 July 2026.

Making its British debut, the collection brings together over 700 objects; from original storyboards, polaroid’s and handwritten notebooks to puppets, miniature models and iconic costumes, offering a glimpse into the precise, whimsical world behind one of cinema’s most distinctive voices.

CELEBRATE BURNS NIGHT


The annual celebration of Burns Night, a homage to Scottish poet and lyricist, Robert Burns is taking place this month, on the 25th January. Typically celebrated with Scottish traditions of haggis, whiskey and bagpipes, be sure to explore one of the many spots in London that will be celebrating.

Highlights include a night of dancing at the Ceilidh Club near Regent’s Park, or closer by, an elaborate Burns Night Dinner at Boisdale’s and a whiskey tasting with live music and the best traditional delicacies at The Cadogan Arms.

WINTER LIGHTS


Winter Lights returns on the 20th January for its tenth edition, and it promises to be brighter than ever!

A firm favourite with Londoners, the festival brings together extraordinary light installations from acclaimed artists and studios from around the world. Next year’s theme, DREAMSCAPE, invites visitors on a journey through surreal and ethereal experiences, transforming Canary Wharf into a wonder and possibility.

TS ELIOT PRIZE READINGS


Heralded as world’s most prestigious prize for poetry, the TS Eliot Prize Readings will be taking place this month, where the ten shortlisted artists will be introducing their fantastic pieces of work. Chosen by a panel of esteemed judges, head down to the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on the 18th January to see these talented wordsmiths in action.

Described by Sir Andrew Motion as ‘the prize poets most want to win’ and by The Independent as the ‘world’s top poetry award’, it is the most prestigious poetry prize in the world, and the only major poetry prize judged purely by established poets.
