Belgravia's Best Pubs

Pubs are one of Britain’s oldest and most popular social institutions, and are renowned for their versatility. Whether you’re popping in for after work drinks, catching up with an old friend, or celebrating a special occasion, a charming pub is the place to be.

We may be biased, but Belgravia has some of the best pubs in London, and below are just a few of our favourites…

The Alfred Tennyson

Community is the first thing that comes to mind when we hear the name ‘The Alfred Tennyson’. Why? Because it is located in the heart of Belgravia, and is beloved by locals and visitors alike. This beautiful Georgian townhouse lies at the end of Motcomb Street and just moments from Belgravia’s Embassies. What’s more, the pub is immersed in British history, named and inspired by the celebrated poet Laureate, who quite famously, was ‘always roaming with a hungry heart’. So, be sure to check out the many floors of The Alfred Tennyson, each as elegant and cosy as the next.

Wilton Arms

What makes the Wilton Arms so special, is that it’s a small family run pub, serving home-made pub classics. This beautiful grade-II listed building dates from 1826, and has recently just been refurbished. Despite looking quaint on the outside, they also have a beautiful dining room upstairs for those private dinner celebrations, with old-style wallpaper, and the original and charming sash window shutters.

The Thomas Cubitt

Located on the picturesque Elizabeth Street, The Thomas Cubbitt, is named after one of London’s most famous master builders and is celebrated for its extensive wine selection. With over 30 wines by the glass, you’ll be spoilt for choice from the moment you arrive. This British Gastropub is also set over three unique and intricately designed floors. If you are looking for a spot to socialise, head to the ground-floor, but if you are looking for something a little more intimate, take the stairs to their beautiful Regency dining room, where the wine list takes precedence over the beer taps.

The Grenadier

An absolute must visit! The Grenadier, located on Belgrave Square, is a hidden gem, tucked away down a private cobbled mews. This historic treasure is practically royalty amongst London pubs and is built on the site of an old barracks (so military references, including the iconic cherry-red sentry box, are to be expected!). The most noticeable quirk, however, is the collection of signed bank notes on the ceiling. It is believed that a young Cedric cheated at cards and was later punished for it. Therefore, in an attempt to help settle his debt, visitors from all over hang money as a tribute.

Duke of Wellington

Adorned with blooming hanging baskets in the Summer, and a warm cosy fire providing respite in the winter, The Duke of Wellington is your traditional and homely local pub. Tucked away behind Sloane Square and the Kings Road, the Duke is the perfect spot to unwind and drink the night away. Interestingly, before it was turned into a pub, it was a reading room, where 19th century residents would go to read their morning newspapers. Nowadays, residents of Belgravia prefer a tipple or two over reading matter…

The Orange

This gorgeous building truly sells itself! Once a brewery, now an award-winning British gastropub, The Orange is located on Pimlico Road and overlooks the tranquil Orange Square. What makes the building stand out is that during restoration, the traditional and grand features of the brewery were maintained, so you can expect some historic charm on your visit. At the heart of The Orange, however, is their famed food offering, including glorious wood-fired pizzas.
