What's On in London? September 2023

Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto


Get your fashion fix at the first UK exhibition dedicated to the work of French couturière, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel!

Arriving at the Victoria & Albert Museum on Saturday, 16 September, the exhibition charts the establishment of the House of CHANEL and the evolution of her iconic design style which continues to influence the way women dress today.

Over the 200 outfits on display, 122 are new additions, including international collections for never seen before pieces, some over 100 years old! The curator Oriole Cullen, was also the mastermind behind the V&A’s most recent fashion blockbuster, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams.

London Design Festival


Watch London turn into a giant gallery during the London Design Festival, as dynamic and innovative projects pop up across the capital from 16 – 24 September.

Located around London’s Brompton Road, the district spans from Kensington to Knightsbridge, with the Vctoria and Albert Museum, acting as a hub for the festival with a range of exhibitions and installations… Which is just moments from our hotel doors! As one of the world’s leading design events, the Festival has also served as the blueprint for design weeks and festivals globally and continues to be a key moment on the cultural calendar, perfect for a day out with family or friends!

Totally Thames


Celebrate the River Thames with arts events, active adventures, environmental initiatives, heritage and education programmes!

Totally Thames takes place on, beneath, and along the River Thames and hosts pop-up performances, boating events, art installations, river clean-ups, live performances, talks, workshops and much more. The month-long programme runs the 42-mile stretch of the Thames through working collaboratively with artists, local communities, river interest organisations and businesses.

Open House Festival


Discover hidden secrets of the capital as you peek inside some of the most iconic buildings and architecturally unique spaces around the city!

From Wednesday 6 – Sunday 17 September, visitors can go through the keyhole of special spaces and places across London and beyond, from private homes to government buildings and historic sites that are normally closed to the public and just waiting to be explored. Also, with a wide range of special events, guided tours, and activities for children and families, there is something for everyone.

Gin & Rum Festival


For the Gin & Rum lovers!

Grab your loved ones and head to the Gin & Rum festival at The Kia Oval on the 23rd September, where you can choose from over 120 of the best gins and rums on the market, including the best of British, spirits from around the world and a huge range of flavoured products.

Even if gin and rum aren’t your spirit of choice, you can make your way to the cocktail bar, where you will find a selection of seasonal coktails, authentic sipping tequilas, beer and of course bubbles! All whilst enjoying music from an award-winning DJ and live entertainment.

Paula Rego: Crivelli's Garden


Enjoy the Paula Rego: Crivelli’s Garden exhibition at The National Gallery from now until 29 October 2023.

Thirty years ago, Dame Paula Rego, The National Gallery’s first Associate Artist, was commissioned to create a mural for the then new Sainsbury Wing Dining Room. Nowadays, visitors can explore this monumental altarpiece and painting and it’s relationship with the National Gallery staff that inspired it.

The exhibition also celebrates Dame Paula’s connections to the National Gallery and her time as a resident artist, and is a tribute to the work and life of one of the most important artists of her generation.

Hugglets TEDDIES Festival 2023


A festival of teddies? Why not!

Meet thousands of teddy bears and artists from around the world in the heart of London at Kensington Town Hall on Sunday 17 September.

Hugglets Teddy Festivals bring together enthusiasts, collectors, artists, suppliers and teddy bear makers worldwide and see’s up to 100 stands and thousands of teddy bears for sale, with prices ranging from a few pounds to over £1,000. Visitors can expect to see both antique and modern bears, as well as clothes, accessories and bear-making supplies!

Historical Highlights Tours at Somerset House
