The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon

Opening at the V&A South Kensington on 21st September, The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon celebrates one of Britain’s most enduring fashion icons.

Marking Burberry’s 170th anniversary, this free display traces the evolution of the iconic trench coat, from its origins as practical outerwear and military attire to its place on the global fashion stage. Bringing together rare pieces from the Burberry Archive and the V&A collection, the exhibition explores the craftsmanship, innovation and creativity behind the timeless design.

Set within the V&A’s Prince Consort Gallery, the display offers a fascinating glimpse into the heritage of British fashion and the continued reinvention of an iconic silhouette. Running until 3rd January 2027, it’s a must-visit for fashion and design enthusiasts this autumn.
