1. Chocolate Rain Art Installation
Created by renowned local illustrator Mai Yat-tuen, the “Chocolate Rain” themed murals and 3D installations adorn the ground, railings, and public spaces along Wan Chai Promenade. These vibrant, whimsical cartoon characters and giant paintings not only infuse the promenade with lively energy but have also become must-visit photo spots for families and hipsters. Some installations incorporate water sports elements, seamlessly blending art with the natural landscape.
2. Children’s Playground Activity Zone
The Children’s Playground is a dedicated recreational space for youngsters, featuring brightly colored drainage barrels, lush green lawns, climbing structures, and slides. Children can safely run, climb, and burn off energy freely, while parents relax in nearby rest areas or outdoor seating. With its vibrant colors and playful design, the playground is a popular weekend destination for families.
3. Ferry Pier Theme Zone
Adjacent to Wan Chai Ferry Pier, this zone embraces a nostalgic Hong Kong theme with minimalist exposed concrete and wooden architecture. Large photo frames, neon decorations, traditional iron gates, and vibrant mailboxes showcase the evolution of Hong Kong’s streets and coastline. Beyond being a photo-worthy spot, the zone immerses visitors in the nostalgic charm of old Hong Kong.
4. Retired “Flyhead” Train
Two retired East Rail Line “Flyhead” train cars, donated by MTR Corporation, now sit along the waterfront promenade as a multipurpose exhibition and workshop space. Both inside and outside the carriages retain original design details, allowing residents to revisit nostalgic railway memories. Surrounding the carriages are station signs, viewing platforms, and a circular plaza, creating a new nostalgic photo spot for the younger generation while serving as a fresh platform for community events and exhibitions.
