The Hari Hong Kong is delighted to host The Hari Chronicles, a series of conversations about art, design, culture and Hong Kong, which will take place throughout the year at The Hari’s Lounge and invite global thought leaders to discuss a wide-range of topics.
The inaugural edition of The Hari Chronicles took place in March 2024 with world-renowned Cuban artist Yoan Capote, who showcased two monumental works entitled Requiem (Endless Sea) and Isla (Vorágine) at the Art Basel Hong Kong 2024, Encounters section.
During this intimate conversation, Yoan shared about his artistic inspiration, the work he is exhibiting at Art Basel, as well as a thorough explanation of his piece Nostagia (2013).

In September 2024, the Hari Chronicles presented an intimate conversation with Puerto Rican artist Enoc Perez which was moderated by celebrated architect Dr Michael Ng, former partner at Foster and Partners. Perez is renowned for his paintings and oil stick drawings that depict iconic, utopian architecture and monuments. has developed a distinct visual vocabulary, using architecture and interiors as symbols to examine power, identity, popular culture, history and politics.
Perez’s exhibition, Chances are You’ll Like it All Ways, was held from September to November 2024 at Ben Brown Fine Arts in Hong Kong. The exhibition featured his paintings of Bacardi rum and Moutai baijiu bottles and cocktails. Brimming with sensory richness, the works are infused with layers of personal and cultural meaning, exploring the deceptive promises and enduring appeal of consumer culture, while embracing art’s potential for pure beauty and pleasure.
In October 2024, Hong Kong born artist Kitty Chou took the stage for an evening of conversation moderated by the publisher of Vogue Hong Kong, Desiree Au. The discussion delved into Chou’s creative process, her “accidental” artistic journey, and her inspirations. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design, Chou began her artistic career with the “accidental” photographic style of direct-instant capture.
Chou employs a signature method allowing spontaneity and authenticity in her images. This technique emphasises the unexpected beauty found in everyday scenes blending themes of space, identity, and cultural context. Chou’s work often tells a story, inviting viewers to engage with the layers of meaning and emotion present in her compositions.
The Hari Hong Kong is thrilled to have the fourth edition of The Hari Chronicles, its ongoing series of conversations on art and culture. In partnership with Zolima CityMag, the event took place in November, at The Hari’s Lounge, featuring an in-depth discussion on the acclaimed designer Henry Steiner, whose work profoundly shaped Hong Kong’s visual identity.
The conversation highlighted Henry Steiner’s Hong Kong, a book by Zolima CityMag that chronicles Steiner’s six-decade influence on the city’s design landscape. Known for creating brand identities for HSBC, the Jockey Club, Peak Tower, and other Hong Kong landmarks, Steiner’s work embodies a unique “East meets West” aesthetic. Henry Steiner’s Hong Kong reveals lesser-known aspects of his journey, from the origin of the HSBC logo to stories of his collaborations with local institutions and his path from Vienna to Hong Kong.
Joining the discussion are Billy Potts, a Hong Kong-born designer and Zolima CityMag writer renowned for exploring the city’s hidden stories, cultural heritage, and traditional crafts, and John Wu, the leading collector of Steiner’s work. Wu, also a graphic designer, has amassed over 100,000 Hong Kong design artefacts—including rare maps, postcards, banknotes, and signage—that document the city’s visual evolution. Their insights will shed light on Steiner’s influence on Hong Kong’s identity, with Christopher DeWolf, Zolima CityMag’s managing editor and an award-winning writer on Hong Kong’s architecture and design, moderating the session.
