Wan Chai and Causeway Bay Where to celebrate Christmas?

As the year-end holidays approach, a strong Christmas atmosphere gradually envelops Hong Kong. Every year, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay become the most vibrant Christmas celebration landmarks on Hong Kong Island, offering various Christmas events, themed markets, and stunning light decorations to create unforgettable memories for you.

The Hari is here to help you discover the most worthwhile Christmas celebration activities in Wan Chai and Causeway Bay for 2025, while also compiling recommendations for great Christmas destinations, photo spots, and themed events, to spend a wonderful year-end with you!

Best places to visit for Christmas 2025 Causeway Bay

During Christmas, major malls and streets in Causeway Bay are adorned with dreamy light decorations and thematic installations. There are also Christmas markets, limited-edition brand pop-ups, and large-scale thematic photo events. The Hari takes you to discover the following must-visit hotspots first:

Times Square

As a top-tier shopping and entertainment hub on Hong Kong Island, Times Square is covered in a sea of dreamy lights and special installations during Christmas. The festive atmosphere around the mall’s perimeter is intense, making it perfect for photo-taking and gatherings with friends and family, both day and night. The mall’s spacious, multi-level interior offers elevated views overlooking the Causeway Bay nightscape, making it the premier annual photo hotspot.

This Christmas, Times Square adopts the theme of Disney’s popular animated film “Zootopia 2,” transforming the entire mall into a limited-time “Zootopia City.” From the open-air plaza to multiple indoor floors, the space is filled with movie character elements and festive installations, allowing both adults and children to step into the animated world for memorable photos. The ground-level plaza features a giant “Welcome to Zootopia 2” photo spot and a roughly 4.8-meter-tall Christmas tree, adorned with character-shaped ornaments and gift boxes. The atrium on the second floor also creates a joyful atmosphere with colorful Christmas trees and dioramas of Zootopia residents, perfect for families, couples, and friends to enjoy from day into night.

Hysan Place

Located in the heart of Causeway Bay, Hysan Place offers very convenient transportation. The atrium and outdoor corridors feature stylish light installations during Christmas, making it particularly suitable for couples and photography enthusiasts to wander at night and capture the beauty of the festive lights.

This Christmas, Hysan Place, situated at the core of the Lee Gardens area, adopts the theme “Winter Wonder Bloom.” The entire Lee Gardens One, Two, and Hysan Place vicinity transforms into an artistic light gallery, offering photo opportunities day and night, especially after dusk when the lights turn on, creating an exceptionally romantic atmosphere. The mall atrium and outdoor corridors are filled with floral light decorations and installation art, making it easy to capture festive photos whether you’re shopping, waiting for a table, or specifically there for photography. It’s very suitable for couples and photography enthusiasts to explore leisurely.

Causeway Bay Plaza

Situated near an MTR exit, Causeway Bay Plaza enjoys bustling foot traffic. During Christmas, the streets are vibrant with festive lights, and the surrounding roads and mall facades feature large-scale thematic light displays. Both the sidewalks and the central plaza are popular photo locations.

The route from the MTR station to Paterson Street, Food Street, and Fashion Walk is decorated with thematic light installations on building facades and sidewalks during the festive season. Pedestrians need only look up to see the colorful sea of lights. Photos taken from the central plaza or across the street can capture the strong “Causeway Bay Christmas Night” vibe. In 2025, the plaza’s surroundings also connect to Fashion Walk’s “TOASTing for Christmas” Brunch Brother thematic light zone, where popular Korean toast characters take over the entire Food Street with several cozy-themed photo scenes. This creates a complete Christmas stroll route connecting malls, streets, and outdoor dining areas in the core Causeway Bay area, perfect for enjoying the festive atmosphere while taking photos and exploring street food.

Windsor House

Adjacent to SOGO Department Store, Windsor House boasts an excellent location. Its Christmas-themed decorations are exceptionally lavish every year. The large-scale light installations at the entrance and atrium are a top choice for family photos and outings. Meanwhile, the surrounding area offers a complete selection of dining and shopping options, allowing visitors to enjoy Causeway Bay’s unique shopping and culinary experience after taking photos.

This Christmas, Windsor House collaborates with the popular mobile game “Brawl Stars” to launch a “WINDSOR X BRAWL STARS” thematic setup and activities, transforming the mall into a “brawl stage” for players and cartoon characters. Particularly the atrium area on the ground floor is filled with game elements and festive colors, making it a focal point for photos and family fun. Inside, there are multiple photo spots and interactive challenge installations inspired by game characters. On designated days, live battle challenges and the “Brawl Stars Championship” finals will be held, allowing players and their friends or children to enjoy intense competition while soaking in the strong Christmas atmosphere. Afterwards, they can explore the mall and nearby shops for a leisurely shopping and dining experience, fully enjoying Causeway Bay’s unique blend of retail and entertainment.

Best places to visit for Christmas 2025 Wan Chai

In Wan Chai, which is adjacent to Causeway Bay, you can also find various romantic seas of lights with a European ambiance and urban photo walkways. Enjoy Wan Chai’s unique Christmas memories and beautiful cityscapes under the glow of winter night lights.

Lee Tung Avenue

Lee Tung Avenue is renowned for its European-themed light decorations. In 2025, it will once again transform into the “Luminous Carnival” light and shadow extravaganza. The entire approximately 200-meter-long tree-lined pedestrian street will be adorned with giant Christmas bells, twinkling lights, and Christmas ornaments. Complemented by an 8-meter-tall golden Christmas tree in the atrium, a 7.5-meter suspended LED Ferris wheel, and hot air balloon installations, it creates a dreamy scene reminiscent of a European carnival. The event runs from November 21, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Every evening after the lights are switched on, the entire walkway is illuminated by over twenty thousand smart LED bulbs. Whether with family, a partner, or friends, everyone can stroll leisurely along the spacious pedestrian street, capturing photos and soaking in the vibrant festive atmosphere.

This year’s highlights include the nightly “Luminous Symphony” light and music show. From 5:30 PM to around 10:50 PM, a performance takes place in the atrium every 20 minutes, where the Christmas tree, Ferris wheel, and hot air balloons change colors in sync with the music, transforming the night sky into a flowing canvas of light and shadow. On specific dates in December, there will also be “Let It Snow!” snowfall performances, a Nordic Christmas market, pop-up Santa’s village parties, and performances by various choirs and musicians. This turns Lee Tung Avenue into a must-visit Christmas hotspot in Wan Chai, combining lights, music, snow, and markets, making it especially perfect for photography and Reels enthusiasts to capture the entire luminous walkway.

Hopewell Centre

This year, Hopewell Centre collaborates with “Wonderland” to create the themed “Winter Snow Carnival.” Extending from the atrium to the mall’s periphery, the entire space is filled with Nordic forest-style installations and Christmas lights, exuding a festive atmosphere day and night. It’s particularly suitable for a dedicated photo visit after work or on weekends. The atrium features an approximately 6-meter-tall snow-dusted Christmas tree and a giant toy box scene, allowing for adorable, fairy-tale-like photos from various angles, perfect for couples, friends, or families.

The 2025 highlights are concentrated in the atrium on the 3rd floor of Hopewell Centre. These include the “Winter Snow Carnival” game zone, featuring a Forest Valley bouncy castle, slides, climbing structures, and various traditional game booths (pay-per-play), letting kids burn off energy. On designated days, Santa Claus will make appearances for photos, there will be performances by Creative Kindergarten’s choir, and Christmas creative craft workshops led by QEEBOO, where participants can make mini Christmas trees, festive wooden decorations, and Christmas texture paintings, adding a sense of ritual. F&B outlets within the mall also offer seasonal limited-edition desserts and hot drinks. You can enjoy watching the kids play while leisurely experiencing the rare “snowy” Christmas night in the heart of Wan Chai, either in the atrium or the open-air space.

Wan Chai Waterfront Promenade

The rest areas and expansive spaces along the Wan Chai Waterfront Promenade are adorned with large-scale thematic light installations every Christmas. You can enjoy the urban sea of lights right next to the Victoria Harbour waterfront, making it ideal for family strolls and sightseeing.

This year, the Wan Chai Waterfront Promenade is again included in the “Hong Kong WinterFest 2025” Victoria Harbour night view route. You can take a stroll along the promenade, gazing across the harbour at the 20-meter-tall giant Christmas tree and Christmas town setup in Statue Square, Central, as well as the 3D light show spanning multiple landmark buildings, admiring the spectacular sight of the entire Central business district projected as a winter night sky canvas. The event runs until January 4, 2026. During specified evening hours, the “Immersive Light Show in Central” takes place, synchronized with music and Christmas animations. Simply find a spot along the waterfront near the Convention Centre or on the Wan Chai Promenade to take in the entire Central skyline and Christmas lights all at once. It’s perfectly suited for families or couples to get some fresh air, take a walk, and capture stunning city nightscape photos.

Pacific Place

During Christmas, each level of Pacific Place features different festive decorations. The adjacent Starstreet Precinct is a hidden gem for photos, offering diverse thematic lights and enchanting scenes for the winter season.

This year, Pacific Place adopts the theme “Ticket to Christmas,” collaborating with the Starstreet Precinct to transform the entire complex into a “Christmas Central Station.” From November 14, 2025, to January 2, 2026, it takes visitors on a journey from a Christmas train station. The mall atrium features a large-scale train platform scene, a Christmas train, and multiple photo installations, complemented by ticket elements, vintage suitcases, and festive lights, creating a winter atmosphere akin to a European railway station. Inside, there is also a “Santa Express” meet-and-greet area with Santa and Station Café workshops offering creative experiences like making Christmas wreaths, candles, and handcrafted ornaments, ideal for families and craft-loving visitors to book and participate in.

The connected Starstreet Precinct is also dressed up with Christmas installations and a sea of lights. Its small lanes are adorned with warm light strings, small Christmas trees, and thematic window displays, offering numerous soothing photo opportunities during an evening stroll. You can first experience the large-scale indoor setups at Pacific Place, then walk over to the Starstreet Precinct to leisurely explore its cafes, bars, and boutiques, capturing cinematic Christmas night photos against the more tranquil street backdrop. This completes a winter romantic route combining an “indoor mall + outdoor precinct” experience.
